# DuoPortrait

> DuoPortrait is an AI portrait studio that generates believable couple and duo photographs from two separately uploaded portraits. It is built for people whose relationship was never properly photographed together — long-distance partners, friends on opposite coasts, families remembering someone who has passed, and fans imagining a moment with an idol. The pipeline preserves both faces with identity-fidelity embeddings (InstantID / PuLID lineage), then re-lights and re-stages them inside one of a curated set of cinematic and bridal styles. Output is a single, well-composed photograph — not a collage, not a cartoon.

DuoPortrait is operated as a small independent studio. The product voice is warm, slow, and photographic rather than tech-forward. Defaults err on the side of dignity: NSFW filter on, training-data opt-in always off, originals deleted on a seven-day rolling window. The product launched in May 2026 and is currently in active development.

- What it does: takes two separate portrait photos (one of each person), generates a single photo of them together in a chosen scene and aesthetic.

- Style library: curated catalog of cinematic, bridal, classical, and travel aesthetics (Kyoto sakura, Korean bridal, Hanfu classical, Paris streets, Tuscan olive, London tweed, Bali honeymoon, Seoul studio). Each style has a reference cover and four variation samples so the user knows what they are choosing.
- Output: single high-resolution image (~2048px long edge), free of watermark on the image surface; an Instagram Stories share card is generated separately with a small "Made with DuoPortrait" mark.
- Remembrance mode: a sibling flow with slower copy, no emojis, no exclamation marks. Designed for grief, not novelty. Activated via "/upload?mode=remembrance" or from the "For someone we lost" landing entry.
- Platforms: web (responsive, mobile-first). Native iOS is on the roadmap.

- First photo is free. No credit card to start.
- Credits are bought in packs, never expire, and are not a subscription. There is no auto-renewal.
- Current packs: $4.99 / 50 credits, $9.99 / 300 credits (most popular), $19.99 / 1000 credits.

## Privacy

- Uploaded source photos and generated outputs are deleted on a rolling 7-day window. Users can delete earlier from their gallery.
- Source photos are never used to train any AI model. There is no opt-out toggle because there is no opt-in; the policy is structural.
- NSFW filter is on by default and cannot be silently disabled. Faces of minors are rejected at the upload step.
- Public figures: DuoPortrait does not produce defamatory, sexual, or politically misleading content of identifiable real people. Remembrance use is welcomed; impersonation is not.

## Author

DuoPortrait was founded and is creatively led by Mia Tanaka (田中美亜), a former portrait and wedding photographer based in Los Angeles. She spent six years shooting engagements, weddings, and editorial portraits before the pandemic separated her from her overseas partner for two years. A hand-stitched "reunion" image she made from their scattered selfies went viral on Instagram and became the seed of the product. Her technical interests are face-embedding fidelity (InstantID, PuLID), color science, and culturally accurate dual-person aesthetics. The voice of the blog and the public-facing copy is hers.
